This chair was built to match a set of five dining chairs. The set was brought in to have rolls built onto the top of the backs which were later upholstered. The rolls were to give the chairs a Regency look as the designer was converting her client's room into a Regency revival theme. Though the concept of converting a modern chair into a classic antique style seems odd, they actually were beautiful when completed.
The client wanted a golden, metallic appearance to the wood. In order to give the design an older flavor, a hammered, gilding appearance was faux painted and then antiqued with a special glaze that gave an old, metallic luster, similar to the mirror frame in the Furniture Restoration section.
