Mahogany Sleigh Bed, Hander Woodworking
The mahogany bed, above, was brought into Hander Woodworking in need of refinishing and repair work.  All four legs had suffered extreme splintering through the years, making the bed unusable.  A routing jig was built and clamped to the legs for milling the surfaces flat in preparation for new mahogany pieces.  Once the repairs were made and the bed refinished, the repairs became invisible and as strong as new.

Above is a repaired leg with fingers indicating the glue line.  The right finger identifies the bottom corner of the new mahogany joint. The wooden dowels seen on the background leg are plugging pin holes where the rail attaches.
