The original cherry back to this chair was broken beyond repair when it was received at Hander Woodworking. A new back had to be steamed and bent. This required the old back to be cut out of the chair, molds to be manufactured at the proper radius for the steaming process and a new cherry blank to be cut and shaped in preparation for steaming. Once the back was steamed and bent, it was installed into the chair and finished to match the rest of the wood.
